Citizens Advice Gosport is a local charity providing much-needed information and advice to the people of Gosport.
We are looking for a trustee with appropriate skills and experience to join the board and take over from the current Chair whose six years term of office expires towards the end of 2018.
Citizens’ Advice Gosport is governed and managed locally but with the benefit of being part of a large and influential national organisation. It is a member of Citizens’ Advice which is a network of around 300 independent local charities across England and Wales.
A Chief Officer leads a small team of paid staff but, most importantly, a large number of highly-trained and committed volunteers who provide advice to local people. The charity has recently carried out a review of how it can best meet the needs of local residents and has commenced implementing the changes required to ensure future success at a time when demand for its services is growing fast.
There is a very active trustee board of eleven already in place, with each member taking responsibility for a specific activity. Due to work and other commitments, none of the existing trustees are able to take over the role of Chair.
The Chair will lead our enthusiastic and committed team of volunteer trustees in developing the strategy for this independent charity, supporting the Chief Officer and ensuring the charity meets the needs of local residents.
To find out more about the role and how to apply please contact the Company Secretary:
Ame Rutter on firstname.lastname@example.org or call on 02392 604605.
If you would like an informal discussion on what would be involved in becoming Chair of this active charity, please contact Ame Rutter who will arrange for a trustee to call you back.
