Gambling Support Service for the South East
Working together to reduce the impact of gambling-related harm through education and advice.
This service is available to Citizens Advice local offices and other organisations across Hampshire, the Isle of Wight, Surrey, East Sussex, West Sussex and Kent. We are one of twelve regionally-based projects covering the whole of England and Wales.
Our partnership with GambleAware funds:
- Free training and support for your workers and volunteers to identify gambling related-harm (GRH)
- Early intervention promotion
- Awareness raising at your events
For some people, gambling causes far-reaching problems affecting personal relationships, work and health. It can also cause mental health problems, debt and homelessness. Their partners, children, family, friends, employers and even health services can be affected too.
People working in frontline services are in a great position to make a difference to lives before the issue has devastating consequences. Only 2% of gamblers with a problem seek specialist treatment. Your conversations could help more people experiencing gambling related harm to get the support they need.
You don’t need to be a specialist or a counsellor to offer useful support, information and advice. You can make a difference by talking about gambling related harm with the people you help and by referring them to the specialist services available.
